Wednesday, February 26 is Ash Wednesday and parents are welcome to attend the Liturgy which will begin at 9:15 am.
The students are encouraged to wear the colour purple or their uniform on this day. The colour purple during the season of Lent signifies penance, preparation and sacrifice.
On this day, ashes are used to mark the sign of the cross on our foreheads. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. They also symbolize our grief, in this case, grief in having sinned and caused division from God. The ashes generally are made by burning blessed palms leftover from the previous Palm Sunday.
