St. Joseph CES is pleased to be participating in the 40th Anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope during the week of September 28 to October 2, 2020. For over fifteen years our school community has raised over $50,000 for cancer research. We are very proud of our achievements. Our challenge this year is to continue to support this worthwhile cause and to help realize a dream that started with a young man’s Marathon of Hope. All proceeds raised will be forwarded to The Terry Fox Foundation to further cancer research.
The SJA walk will be organized as follows:
- On Monday, September 28th, we will kick-off the week with announcements and stories about Terry Fox.
- Students are encouraged to wear red and white on Monday, September 28!!
- To ensure physical distancing guidelines are followed, students will participate in the walk with their own cohort on one of the days during Terry Fox Week
- Teachers will take their own class outside either during their physical education time or during another DPA time selected by the classroom teacher
- Students will walk for approximately 20 – 40 minutes around the school property and Confederation Park soccer field
In lieu of sending home a pledge sheet and collecting money at school, we suggest that you visit our school fundraising page to donate online: www.terryfox.ca/StjosephCESAurora
Please sign and return the Informed Consent Waiver, giving permission to PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AT CONFEDERATION PARK, by September 28, 2020. This will allow us to follow physical distancing protocols especially during Physical Education class and movement breaks.
Working together we can make a difference!!
