Halloween at St. Joseph Aurora!

Thank you  to Joe at the NO FRILLS STORE located in the AURORA SHOPPING CENTRE for donating 300 pumpkins to St. Joseph Aurora to make our student’s Halloween exciting this year!  The teachers at St. Joseph will be planning decorating activities for the students to do with their pumpkins!!  The students will be bringing their pumpkins home to share with their families!!

October 29 Halloween at School:  Parents are reminded to NOT SEND TREATS to school for peer distribution.  Students are not to share food with others.

Halloween Dance:  Each class will have an opportunity to dance in the gym while maintaining public health protocols.

Haunted Forest:  The grade 8 students will be creating a Haunted Forest on the corner of Murray and Glass Drive.  Classes in grades 2-7 will have an opportunity to visit the Haunted Forest.

October 29 Halloween Costumes:  While planning your child’s costume please consider the following information:

  1. Culture is NOT Costume: Please refrain from using costumes that represent a cultural group or ethnicity. (e.g. First Nations, Chinese, Arabic, etc.)
  2. Public Health measures must be followed. Costumes with fans are not permitted this year.  Students must still wear face masks (PPE).
  3. Masks are Discouraged (Except for PPE): Wearing masks during the school day can compromise the safety of the community. We should always be identifiable in our community so we can avoid having unwelcome guests.
  4. Awareness of Costume Appropriateness is Important: Discourage costumes that are not appropriate to the moral tone of our Catholic Schools.
  5. Awareness of Fear and Evil: Be aware that Ghoulish costumes can terrify younger students, students with special needs, or students with phobias.
